Every 911 has the same fundamental aim: driving. As sportily as possible. That’s why the twin-turbo horizontally opposed engine, the transmission, the chassis, the brakes and all the control systems are designed for one thing: the highest performance.
The engine of the 911 models has a twin-turbo configuration. Its stand-out qualities: exceptional power across the speed range, extraordinarily direct responsiveness and a wide torque plateau, even at low speeds. The horizontally opposed construction, with its short length, low height and position in the vehicle rear allows for a low center of gravity. The engine mounts near the center of the car ensure greater stability and fewer vibrations.
This electronically regulated system minimizes perceptible oscillations and the vibration of the entire drivetrain, in particular the engine, so that the benefits of a hard and a soft engine mounting arrangement can be used. In short: it enhances both driving stability and driving comfort.
The brakes are matched to the high performance of the 911 models. In the 911 Carrera models, four-piston aluminum monobloc fixed brake calipers grip 330 mm brake discs. In the Carrera S models, the front axle is equipped with six-piston aluminum monobloc fixed brake calipers, and four-piston equivalents at the rear. The brake disc diameter is adapted to the increased power output, 350 mm at the front and rear. The 911 GTS models have even more braking power: thanks to six-piston aluminum monobloc fixed brake calipers in red at the front and four-piston equivalents at the rear. The brake disc diameter: 408 mm front and 380 mm rear.
The hood with its characteristic dynamic recess profiles – and its straight slope to the front fascia – is a reference to the earlier 911 models.
The new door handles are partially recessed into the doors and are therefore discretely integrated into the car’s image.
The shape and position of the main headlights are also reminiscent of the first 911 generations. The latest LED technology is used inside them.
The analog tachometer is positioned in the center of the instrument cluster and, therefore, always in the driver’s line of sight. The ascending center console ensures short distances between steering wheel and gear lever, and the intuitively placed switches and buttons. All for the unmistakable sensation of driving a 911.
High-resolution displays and touch-sensitive buttons, as well as clearly structured functions and content. Thanks to the Porsche Advanced Cockpit control concept, the 911 interior has never been so focused. Typical sports car: the buttons, which have been consciously kept as analog buttons, offer direct access to essential drive and chassis functions.
Remarkably comfortable for a sports car: the rear seats. Thanks to the folding backrests, the rear storage compartment can be used for up to 9.3 cubic feet of extra storage space.
100% suitability for everyday use: the luggage compartment volume of the 911 models is 4.6 cubic feet.
The system adapts the speed of your 911 depending on the distance to vehicle in front of you. If you approach another vehicle that is travelling slower than your selected cruising speed, the system slows the engine or gently applies the brakes. Even down to a halt. As soon as the road ahead clears, your 911 will accelerate back up to the cruising speed originally set.
Lane Keep Assist eases the burden on you by providing steering assistance, helping to keep the vehicle in lane. Traffic sign recognition displays speed limits, ‘no passing’ zones and indirect information, such as boundary signs, in the instrument cluster. The cornering notification displays an arrowed direction warning on the instrument cluster, alerting you to tight corners. Long before you reach them.
Night Vision Assist uses an infrared camera to detect pedestrians and large wildlife before they are illuminated by the headlights. A thermal image in the instrument cluster warns the driver.
