An engine with a high-speed concept, directly derived from the 911 GT3 R and 911 RSR: with a maximum output of 493 hp at 8,400rpm and a maximum torque of 331 lb-ft at 6,250rpm, the centrally positioned 4.0-liter six-cylinder naturally aspirated engine is by far the most powerful in the 718 model range.
Technical highlight, visual treat and acoustic delight: the black plastic airbox with a silver 'GT4 RS' logo and newly developed air filter, which has been moved to the interior. It not only makes sure that the engine is optimally supplied with fresh air – it also provides a thoroughbred sound. With the Weissach Package, the airbox is finished in visible carbon fiber-weave finish.
The large volume of the lightweight, stainless steel sport exhaust system with rear muffler and two clearly separated stainless steel tailpipes reduces the exhaust back pressure. A stereo lambda control circuit regulates the exhaust gas composition and monitors pollutant conversion in the catalytic converters. In conjunction with the Weissach Package, the tailpipe is made of titanium as standard. Its appearance is derived from the limited 935 motorsport small series production run of 2018, a tribute to the legendary Le Mans race car, the 935/78.
A unique, race track-optimized combination of motorsport-tested chassis components. The lightweight spring-strut axles follow the design principle of the 911 GT3 RS (991 II). Rigid springs in combination with motorsport-typical helper springs and specific wheel mounts helps to ensure excellent traction and stability. Ball joints enable extremely precise wheel control. The height, camber, toe angle and anti-roll bars can be adjusted individually for the race track.
The highly adjustable front diffuser improves the vehicle's aerodynamic balance and is designed for minimum air resistance to achieve maximum speed. In non-road-approved performance setting for race track use, the 718 Cayman GT4 RS achieves considerably more downforce compared to the 718 Cayman GT4, optimizing the vehicle's stability, especially in fast corners. In short: the 'form follows function' principle at its very best.
Persistently defying headwinds: the front hood made of extremely light carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). The NACA ducts improve brake cooling – and make it clear to everyone that this is a sports car in its purest form.
The upper openings in the carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) fenders, the so-called louvers, optimize the wheel arch ventilation, as does the redesigned front spoiler lip with side blades that allow the flow of air from all sides. The result: a reduction in excess pressure in the wheel arch and thus more downforce.
Extremely eye-catching: the fixed rear wing made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). Thanks to the swan-neck connection from above, air flows over the entire surface of the underside of the wing, without any interference. It can also be set manually for race track use. The result: reduced loss of downforce and improved traction.
The cockpit stands for total driver orientation, accessibility, directly readable information, excellent functionality, optimal ergonomics and a focus on what really matters. Materials and details in the interior of the 718 Cayman GT4 RS, such as non-slip Race-Tex, interior trim in matte carbon fiber and door opening loops, are derived directly from motorsport. The airbox has been moved to the interior, ensuring visual and acoustic proximity to the engine.
No embellishments, no frills. Instead: door opening loops like in motorsport. And simple storage nets in the doors. However, we allowed ourselves one adornment: contrasting colors, Arctic Grey – or, depending on the specification, – Deep Sea Blue – for the door opening loops and deviated stitching.
The full bucket seats made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) with carbon fiber-weave finish provide especially good lateral support at minimal weight. The seat centers are made of black, perforated Race-Tex in Arctic Grey or Deep Sea Blue. The 'GT4 RS' logo is embroidered on the headrests as standard; in conjunction with the Weissach Package, the corresponding logo featuring a stylized Weissach track outline.
The Porsche Track Precision app allows you to accurately display, log and analyze driving data on your smartphone. Laps can be timed automatically via a GPS signal from Porsche Communication Management (PCM) and/or manually using the switch in the optional Chrono Package.
Spring rates and damping system calibration follow the principles of the 911 GT3 RS (991 II). New shock-absorber technology and more rigid springs in conjunction with typical motorsport helper springs are used at both the front and rear. The result: a race track chassis delivering excellent cornering dynamics, spontaneous steering and thus higher cornering speeds.
The electronic adjustment of the shock absorber system actively and continuously adjusts the damping force on each wheel, based on current road conditions and driving style. PASM has two settings: sporty/comfortable and sporty/firm.
PSM is an automatic control system for maintaining stability at the limits of dynamic driving performance. The systems can be completely switched off in two stages. For intentionally sporty handling on the race track.
In short: PTV improves the driving dynamics. In detail: the integrated mechanical rear differential lock enables higher traction and lateral dynamics as well as significantly improved vehicle stability during load changes in corners and when changing lanes.
