Twin-turbo six-cylinder horizontally opposed engine.
The engine of the 911 models has a twin-turbo configuration. Its stand-out qualities: exceptional power across the speed range, extraordinarily direct responsiveness and a wide torque plateau, even at low speeds. The horizontally opposed construction, with its short length, low height and position in the vehicle rear allows for a low center of gravity. The engine mounts near the center of the car ensure greater stability and fewer vibrations.
Turbochargers
The engines have two turbochargers and charge-air cooling. It’s an important element of the exhaust turbocharging and greatly contributes to simultaneously increasing performance and reducing emissions.
Every 911 has the same fundamental aim: driving. As sportily as possible. That’s why the twin-turbo horizontally opposed engine, the transmission, the chassis, the brakes and all the control systems are designed for one thing: the highest performance.
PASM is an electronic damping control system that actively and continuously controls the damping force, depending on the road conditions and driving mode, for each individual wheel. For more comfort with increased dynamics.
With PASM Sport suspension, the body is lowered a further 10 mm (0.39 in.) in relation to the PASM chassis. The springs are harder and shorter, the anti-roll bars on the front and rear axles are stiffer. The spring rates have been significantly raised, giving the 911 a more neutral and balanced presence on the road.
Typically 911: the long, flat hood, the steeply inclined windshield and the roof line that slopes gently down towards the rear. The fenders are more clearly shaped, the rear is powerful and clearly emphasizes the horizontal.
The seamless light strip with LED technology between the three-dimensional LED taillights characterizes the appearance of all 911 models. And makes them unmistakable, even at night.
The shape and position of the main headlights are also reminiscent of the first 911 generations. The latest LED technology is used inside them.
Night Vision Assist uses an infrared camera to detect pedestrians and large wildlife before they are illuminated by the headlights. A thermal image in the instrument cluster warns the driver.
12 loudspeakers and amplifier channels with 100-watt subwoofers integral to the vehicle bodyshell characterize the BOSE® Surround Sound System. The total output: 570 watts. The BOSE® SoundTrue Enhancement Technology ensures high audio quality and dynamics for compressed file formats.
''Is the restaurant still open?'' Simply ask your 911. Many functions, such as looking for restaurants, the weather forecast or an alternative route can be intuitively controlled using intelligent voice recognition. You can also combine vocal and touchscreen commands. Say ''Hey Porsche, take me there!'' or tap the PCM screen to begin navigation.
Remarkably comfortable for a sports car: the rear seats. Thanks to the folding backrests, the rear storage compartment can be used for up to 9.3 cubic feet of extra storage space.
Porsche Stability Management (PSM) is an automatic control system for helping to maintain stability at the limits of dynamic driving performance. For a high level of driving stability – and extraordinary agility at the same time. In conjunction with the Sport Chrono Package, PSM is supplemented by a Sport mode. This allows a significantly more sporty driving style, with PSM remaining active in the background.
Rear-axle steering enhances performance and suitability for everyday use in equal measure; by improving the handling during low-speed maneuvers and making maneuvers and turns easier. At the same time, the rear-axle steering gives significantly more driving stability during high-speed maneuvers.
PDCC is an active roll stabilization system. It suppresses lateral body movement when cornering dynamically. For improved dynamic performance, even more neutral handling and increased ride comfort.
